I’ve been pretty stressed lately. In fact so stressed that it was making me ill. Back in October/November I had a constant headache which was starting to turn into frequent migraines. I also started a long saga with my dentist which has left me with constant toothache at the moment (I will get to the bottom of it soon I hope!). So not a great period for me pain wise.
Dealing with pain
During this time, I was asked to review a new over the counter painkiller called “Combogesic“. It is basically just paracetamol and ibuprofen all together in one pill. As my regular pain regime is taking both of these as many times as the packet suggests, I thought I would give Combogesic a go and see if it was any better.
For simplicity sake it is much much better. You take two pills every six hours instead of four pills every four hours. Which did make it a much more relaxed process. I honestly couldn’t say if it helped the pain much more than the normal paracetamol/ibuprofen regime but it certainly wasn’t not helping!!
The company does claim it gives 30% more pain relief, but I couldn’t really confirm that myself. It is also, as you would expect, more expensive than the cheap packets of paracetamol and ibuprofen that you can get almost anywhere nowadays. It retails at £3.99 per pack of 16 tablets. I guess the question is, is taking fewer pills that work for longer and are a bit more effective than the cheaper alternative worth that extra few quid? I will leave that one with you!
